After a busy few weeks of festival cricket, representative cricket, inter school games and tours the 2024 youth cricket season gets underway this weekend.
The 1st XI Championship are the first cab off the rank, with the top six playing two-day cricket throughout the term.
In the first round St Bedes 1st XI host the Timaru Boys HS 1st XI, The Christchurch Boys HS 1st and 2nd XI meet while Christ’s College 1st XI host St Andrews College 1st XI.
The Cup, Bowl, Plate and Colts grades all commence on February 3 and will play Declaration Cricket this term. There is 100 overs available during the day, with the team who bats first having a maximum of 53 available, however, they may declare earlier if they feel they are in a position to do so. Teams are looking for outright wins, but also have the option of a winning draw.
2nd Grade, who play 40 over cricket, also start on 3 February.
On February 10 Year 10 and Year 9 commence and will all be playing limited over formats.
Christchurch Boys HS will also be hosting social T20 cricket on a Friday night.
